Veneer Responsibility

Marlite selects only veneers that are of the highest quality, with standards beyond AWI’s premium AA grade.

Harvesting premium wood veneer trees and nurturing forest growth

Marlite provides a vast selection of premium wood veneers and harvests only select trees in areas where reforestation, endangered species protection and sustained yield management are strictly enforced. In fact, the extreme selective process we employ ensures that forest growth is indeed supported, nurtured and accelerated.

Helping nature thrive and renew

Typically, in a forest of a thousand trees, there are only about 50 that can provide veneer to meet AWI’s AA grade quality standards. And of those 50, only one or two will meet all the criteria for Marlite’s premium wood veneers. Once selected, these valuable premium veneer trees are carefully extracted, without forest clear cutting and using methods to minimize damage to surrounding environments. Removing these large trees then allows sunlight and space for younger trees, nurturing forest growth for future generations.

The extra mile

Marlite strives to provide substrates in step with today's increasingly important environmental needs.

Marlite, which offers a complete selection of real wood veneers, has achieved Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) chain of custody certification and Sustainable Forestry Initiative® (SFI®) chain of custody certification. This allows Marlite to offer FSC/SFI-certified products for use in Surface System® MAP System, Myriad™ Wall System and Marlite Modules™.

Marlite Faux Finishes, Plank, Volta and Slatwall are available on FSC certified core material meeting FSC standards for wood products and bi-products. FSC’s goal is to certify responsible forest management and products derived from these forests.
